I am a qualified science teacher with 16 years experience.
My reputation is one of an outstanding practitioner and leading STEM teacher.
All of my higher education was undertaken at Durham University and I am immensely proud to have graduated from such a prestigious university with an honours degree in Biology (2007), a PGCE in secondary science (2009) and a masters degree in education (2010).
I hold a current enhanced DBS certificate.
I have vast experience in teaching biology, physics and chemistry to students in year 7 through to year 11. During my time in state secondary schools I worked with students of a wide range of ability and motivation levels.
One of my key strengths is the ability to adapt as necessary, forming positive working relationships which ultimately aids student enjoyment in science, progress and outcomes.
Head of transition between primary and secondary science was a role I enjoyed for many years and saw me work with many KS1 and KS2 students to enrich their science curriculum.
Tutoring is my passion since it allows me to focus solely on what I am trained to do; teaching others to acquire new knowledge, higher understanding and developed skills. When my time and energy is focused in this way I thoroughly enjoy my work which is reflected in the quality of my lessons, resources and interactions with students.
My student and parent interactions are completely bespoke as I adapt to your child's learning needs and styles and your communication requirements as parents/carers.
It is my strong belief that students should enjoy what they do and making lessons fun and engaging is one of my top priorities as it paves the way for learning, growth in confidence and ultimately the reaching of goals.
Student confidence and progress is at the heart of every resource I make and lesson I teach.
I have a black belt in karate, I can play guitar, I am able to knit (quite well), and I am a mum to 3 young children.
Although my degree is in biology, my favourite field of science is physics!
No matter your child's goals, targets and aspirations, we can begin making a difference to their enjoyment and achievement in science.
Contact me now to discuss your child's support needs. I look forward to hearing from you.
